Auckland Museum
Mon - Sun 10.00am - 5.00pm
Standing proudly atop the green fields of the Auckland Domain, sits the Auckland Museum, calling the people that visit to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Although most Aucklanders have spent time admiring this magnificent building it’s what is held inside that’s the real treasure. Entering the museum opens up a world filled with new discoveries. History, culture, science, nature, fashion and adventure all await. You are sure to find a source of amazement for even the most avid sceptic amongst the endless exhibitions.
The three levels within the museum are divided into themes: The story of Pacific people: Māori, Pākehā, the peoples of Oceania and other newcomers, the story of New Zealand's evolutionary natural history and New Zealand’s War stories. Along with these permanent collections, there are always several special exhibitions being hosted, from stories of New Zealand War Brides and New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year to the World of Wearable Arts.
Delve into the past and learn something new, visit the Auckland Museum.
