Allpress Ponsonby espresso bar has pumped delicious coffee through visitors’ veins for years. A little sister to Drake Street’s Allpress Auckland Roastery, Dunedin’s Allpress Espresso Roastery Café and Christchurch’s Allpress Espresso, this Ponsonby Road spot is part of a brood that boasts some of the best in the business.

Open Monday to Sunday, Allpress Ponsonby serves up coffee by the cup to busy business people, shoppers and wanderers every day of the week. Be taken in by its quirky vibe and enjoy a coffee in the small space, or take it away as you saunter down Ponsonby Road on a Sunday. Go with a peckish outlook too, as Biscotto Bakery homes itself amongst the pristine white tiles in the back section of the café, and bakes a delicious small selection of European-inspired biscuits. Try and get in early for the Sicilian Pistachio, it’s always a sell out!

Allpress Ponsonby also doubles as a retail store, offering a selection of distinctive blends and single origin coffees for those who know how to enjoy a good spot of coffee at home too. You can test and try before you buy, with expert baristas brewing up tasters of your favourite espresso, including their delicious Allpress Espresso Blend. This service exists to broaden customers’ appreciation and understanding of beautiful coffee, making every cup, be it at home or from a café, just to your liking.

We recommend visiting Allpress Ponsonby if you are keen to take the guessing game out of choosing coffee to suit your taste, and instead becoming more selective in your pickings. For those of you who want to learn even more, they offer coffee classes after hours to help enthusiasts extend their knowledge and learn more about coffee preparation skills.
