On the fringe of the University of Otago sits Allpress Espresso Roastery Café. The space is an effective and simplistic design, fitting of the Allpress brand, and sees a bustling trade of regulars, office workers and students, with the standard of expertise and friendly service one comes to expect from these stalwart espresso specialists. While the café itself opens at 7:30, the little window adjacent to the coffee machine slides open at 7 am for those after just a takeaway coffee.
As always, coffee comes first with their (blend) espresso or single origin filter brew available. Allpress Dunedin also supplies many greater South Island cafés with their signature coffee beans, so look out for the name when you're on your travels.
The café has a cabinet of Italian-style sandwiches, savoury or sweet loaves and a daily seasonal breakfast and lunch plates all reasonably priced. As a coffee roaster that is all about delivering exceptional flavour, Allpress is reaching out to the Dunedin café scene – come down, look around, taste, get some coffee for home and share in the precise craft of coffee, Allpress-style.
