Folk Coffee Roasters provides specialty coffee with purpose, knowledge, and experience. It’s coffee for the curious, offering unique and interesting coffee from all around the world. Located in the heart of Tauranga’s CBD, the crew at Folk places great value in creating a cozy space for people to connect over a beautiful brew.

At Folk, the team finds purpose in sourcing and roasting the finest beans, so people will come together and connect over quality. It’s only small, but what the business lacks in size it makes up for in passion, and the team is committed to turning each bean into an opportunity for connection and inspiration.

Folk started out on not much more than a shoestring budget and a bucketload of passion. Their first espresso machine may have been a preloved Trade Me purchase, but it did the job as Folk sourced their beans first from Excelso Coffee Roasters, and then Ozone Coffee in New Plymouth. A roaster was eventually purchased, and then upgraded, demonstrating that from little things, big things grow.

They say it takes a village to raise a child; well, this baby was certainly nurtured by the community around it. Many people have played a part in Folk’s journey, and in return Folk hopes to continue offering a space for people to connect and share with each other over a carefully made brew. Small tweaks to roasting styles and brewing methods can yield huge differences in the cup, and Folk want to keep bringing interesting coffee to the table.

At Folk, they create moments to cherish, one cup at a time.
