A wise person once said ‘a bookshop is the hub of a community’, and at Books A Plenty, this is something they took to heart. As Tauranga’s largest and only independent bookstore, Books A Plenty is proud to provide that hub, with the idea of expanding their range and services as their community grows.
Selling books, and more books, at Books A Plenty you’ll find an already impressively large range of genres and titles. There are sections for mainstream fiction and nonfiction, adults and children, cooking, travel and coffee table books. There’s pride in also stocking those lesser known genres and titles, offering classics in different formats and special editions.
Books A Plenty has now been around for almost half a century (yes, you read right!) and owners Scott and Sheree have fond memories of visiting Books A Plenty as kids. When the business came up for sale in 2021, they saw an opportunity to continue the local independent bookstore in Tauranga’s CBD for future generations. So now their own kids get to visit, in the same way they did.
Proudly stocking thousands of books at any one time, the dedicated team is passionate about helping people find their next favourite read or the perfect gift for someone special. And on the rare chance they don’t have the book you want, they can order it in.
Between the books, the store also hosts a variety of events including writer Q&As, book festivals and local community gatherings. And hopefully with time, this will expand into music and poetry evenings too.
