In a light and bright upstairs space on Dunedin's George Street, Company Store takes you up and away from the flurry of everyday life. A main character of the neighbourhood since 2013, this elevated shopping retreat acts as Company of Strangers’ flagship store, a local label founded by Head Designer Sara Aspinall.
Since starting out in the fashion industry, Sara has been passionate about finding new forms and functions for existing materials, and this love of reworking vintage pieces continues to guide Company of Strangers’ clothing and jewellery range today. Designed in Dunedin and crafted in New Zealand, the timeless pieces are made to last (and be loved) for a long time in your wardrobe.
As well as accommodating their own in-house collections, Company invites a few other special friends into the mix. You’ll find a thoughtful curation of like-minded brands, including sought-after New Zealand designers and international labels that the team share a close connection with. Shop lovely Ohen lingerie, one-of-a-kind objects from Eleventeen Ceramics, Otsu’s Japanese-inspired garments, beautiful Lela Jacobs designs, an extensive handcrafted jewellery collection, Isle of Eden sunglasses, Levi’s classics, and so much more.
The space itself makes a statement, with the brand’s cobalt blue and candyfloss pink palette weaved throughout the dreamy space, alongside a considered selection of art. The atmosphere is soft and serene, with a spacious changing room area that encourages customers to perch and ponder new wardrobe additions. Each visit to Company Store is met with friendly and personable service, an experience that warmly welcomes one and all into their community.
