Brewtown Eat & Drink

Widely regarded as Wellington’s premier craft beer destination, Brewtown isn’t just a mecca for beer lovers, but also for those who simply appreciate good food and good times in the sun.

Built out of the former Dunlop Tyres factory on Upper Hutt’s Blenheim Street, Brewtown is a veritable craft beer village where you can easily spend a day just sampling the various brews and bites on offer. A sprawling site that makes great use of both its cavernous beer halls and open green spaces, Brewtown conveniently brings a selection of great local craft breweries, food vendors, and even a boutique distillery into one handy spot. A wrap-around deck, replete with outdoor seating and parasols, seamlessly connects the various breweries, while more tables and grassy picnic areas across the footpath mean there’s plenty of space for everyone.

Craft beer connoisseurs will instantly be impressed with the lineup of local breweries: Boneface Brewing Co., Panhead Custom Ales, Te Aro Brewing Co., and Wildkiwi Distillery. In addition to more varieties of craft beer than you’d ever need, each spot serves up a hearty, meat-heavy menu for the perfect beer match - think burgers, BBQ platters, pizzas, fried chicken and decadent desserts.

Some of the best brands in Wellington hospitality have also established a presence here, and you can tuck into your favourite Lucky burger or check out the coffees and bagels at Get Fixed Bicycle Cafe. Meanwhile, Fermented Bar and Eatery offers a fusion of Asian, Kiwi, and South African flavours, and don’t forget to check out the sweet treats at Wafflebox on your way out.

Only a short stroll away from Upper Hutt train station, Brewtown brings together some of the top names in craft beer and a range of food offerings you’d struggle to replicate elsewhere in the Hutt. Whether you’re expanding your craft beer know-how or just keen on a foodie day out, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Brewtown.
