Kaikōura's Flo & Co. hits the spot when it comes to aesthetics and damn good coffee.

The interiors are pretty, with bold colours and statement wallpaper, the kids are looked after by a purpose built kids corner stocked with toys galore, and the old school chairs paired with new tables create that been-here-for-years kind of feel.

Sisters Bex and Jax Hunt are the people behind Flo & Co. and both worked at a café housed in this very spot quite some years ago. Most recently the space housed a Chinese take-out restaurant, before the sisters took over the lease and gave the interior a true facelift with the help of an interior designer. Bex is a trained chef and in charge of the food, and Jax looks after the front of house.

The coffee at Flo & Co. is created with Switch Espresso beans and all cabinet and menu food is made onsite, with the exception of the famed Cakes by Addy & Lou which are made by a local doer and friend just down the road. There’s a whole separate pie cabinet as well to keep all pastry lovers happy.

Whether you’re after that perfect shot to add on your Instagram feed or just genuine good coffee in a neat spot, point your nose towards Flo & Co.
