Kaikōura Fine Foods is a small delicatessen at the north end of the main street.

Showcasing local artisan produce alongside international fine foods, is at the heart of this local business. A variety of cured meats sourced mostly from Canterbury based Poaka farm (producer of award winning free range meats), plus a number of different cheeses from Little River Estate and goat cheese from Picton based Cranky Goat, sit neatly within the glass cabinets. The dry goods shelves are stocked with various condiments you won’t find at the supermarket, that have all passed the taste test.

You can also pick up a loaf of sourdough, a lunchtime salad (which changes daily), some local (and we mean Kaikōura local) honey & saffron, woodchips for your smoker or even some Kawakawa balm that works wonders on chapped lips.

The owners of Kaikōura Fine Foods, Rob and Rosie, previously ran the Old Kaikōura Winery Restaurant, so they know a thing or two about local wines and in the future hope to have an off licence to supply their customers with everything for the perfect platter, including wine.

Art on the walls has been created by a local Kaikōura artist, and the gorgeous bunches in store come from a local florist. Make sure you pop in to gather a few special treats for the pantry next time you’re in town.
