The Greedy Cow Café pours some of the best coffee in South Canterbury. Once a merino wool shop, the sunny corner store café in the heart of Lake Tekapo is a must stop whether you are just passing through or in town for longer.
Expect a friendly, upbeat vibe when you walk in. Smiling faces (or smiling eyes behind masks these days), good tunes and an overall positive atmosphere help you feel energised - especially after you’ve refuelled with a smooth coffee and a delicious breakfast or lunch.
The cabinet heaves with filled croissants, bagels, wraps and sandwiches made with Fairlie Bakehouse bread for eating on the run, and the menu boasts an array of interesting, beautifully presented dishes with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options aplenty.
The Greedy Cow also offers a selection of stunning pastries made on the premises by an in-house pastry chef. Macaroons the size of your palm, lemon meringue tarts, cream puffs and eclairs fill a dedicated pastry cabinet. Cakes are also available for order to take home.
