Preloved Charlies on Wellington’s Victoria Street is a burst of glitter, nostalgia, and unapologetic fun, a place where Y2K dreams, sustainable style, and community spirit collide. A celebration of early-2000s fashion, Charlies is a Gen Z playground that’s curated with care and an eye for pieces that are as bold and original as the people who wear them.

Founded by owner Mikey in her bedroom, Preloved Charlies has always been rooted in a love for fashion and a desire to do better for the planet. What started as an online side hustle and then a series of pop-ups has turned into two permanent stores, run by a powerhouse team of Gen Zers. Racks of low-rise denim, butterfly tops, and baby tees will keep you well-occupied, and the mezzanine level is a neat space to grab a seat for a breather. This is a place that turns thrifting into an adventure, where trying things on becomes an act of self-expression and a playful hunt for that one special piece.

Spend a few minutes here, and it’s clear it isn’t your average second-hand store. The team are conscious that shopping is so much more than a transaction, it’s an experience, and you’ll find experiences aplenty here. Events like kitten cuddle sessions, Valentine’s flower workshops, and sales evenings with free matcha keep things fresh, and most regulars see Charlies as more than just another shop, but something closer to a second home.

This is a space that makes second-hand feel exciting again, where buying vintage is as much about the experience as the clothes. Whether you’re hunting for your next party fit, planning a shoot, or just looking to soak in some good energy, Preloved Charlies brings the kind of magic you can’t mass-produce.
