Filled with beautiful homewares, gifts, and clothing and toys for the little ones, it’s hard to walk past Addy & Lou when strolling along Kaikōura’s main drag.

The shop opened in 2019 and is run by a mother daughter duo Amy and Steph Hislop, who both add to the collection of available wares, keeping things interesting for customers with varying tastes.

Amy lived in Sydney for many years and after returning to her hometown she longed to make a positive change for it. Meanwhile, friends who had been running a store in the same spot were closing up and the idea for Addy & Lou was born. Working part-time as a radiographer at Christchurch Hospital, Amy enlisted the help of her mum, and the dream of having a little part of Kaikōura’s West End soon became a reality.

Addy & Lou stocks a great range of New Zealand made products, with the addition of a few items from across the shores that are just not available within this island nation. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or for someone special, you are bound to find something beautiful in-store.

On top of the usual retail outlet workings, Addy & Lou host pop-ups and workshops throughout the year. If that’s not enough, there’s also a wee cake business that Amy’s sister Lexi runs called Cake by Addy & Lou. You can have a taster of the cakes across the road at Flo & Co. or go ahead and order a whole cake in store, ‘cause why not?
