At the edge of the Heritage Precinct in Ōamaru, you’ll find Housekeepers Design. Located in an old grain store, the building itself is something worth exploring. And explore you must because Housekeepers Design is home to a huge range of New Zealand and Australian brands designed for a life well lived. Whether you’re redecorating, need a wardrobe update or are shopping for a gift, it’s easy to find something unique here.

In the way of clothing, Housekeepers' racks are lined with fabrics that are hard to resist. Cotton, wool, silk, linen, leather and other natural fibres tie the different collections together into one cohesive offering. Brands range from Maaike to Company of Strangers to Stolen Girlfriends Club, and pieces span the spectrum from classic basics to funky, bold caftans and dresses. Accessorise with leather goods from Status Anxiety, sunnies from Valley Eyewear or a new pair of shoes from Woden. Try whatever you’d like on in the spacious changing rooms.

Continuing on in terms of sensory delight, Housekeepers has soaps, candles, diffusers and room sprays from the likes of Ashely + Co and Citta. If relaxing and self-care are your thing, you’ll need more than a few minutes to browse the face, hair and body products. Smell and test them all, then take away your favourites to add some luxury to your day-to-day.

Finally, this Ōamaru store is all about curating the home environment, which is why they stock mulberry silk pillowcases, George Street linen, indoor plant supplies, pillows, soft throws, picture frames and other covetable objects. Browse it all at your own pace.
