Every happy neighbourhood needs a good fish and chip spot, and for lucky Plimmerton folk that exists in the form of Plimmerton Fish Supply. This coastal suburb is no stranger to beach time, sandy toes and a hot parcel of chips, and by the number of hungry locals and visitors who make their way here in the evening, it’s easy to see that this is a place worth its salt.

The traditional Kiwi fish and chip shop aesthetic and extensive menu welcome you inside. Deep-sea cod, a flaky white fish, is used here, and depending on the season they could also have specialty fillets like tarakihi, blue cod or gurnard, or even the famous Bluff oysters. There’s a separate gluten-free menu, so don’t be thinking you can’t enjoy the fare if you’ve got an intolerance. Dip your chips in some homemade curry sauce, which is full of flavour but mild in heat, as you peruse the rest of the offerings.

From fillets to fritters, crumbed, battered, or between burger buns, Plimmerton Fish Supply serves the freshest of the best kaimoana — as well as toasties, spring rolls, and decadent desserts. For the sweet tooths, we’re talking deep-fried cheesecake brownie bites with berry sauce, churros with chocolate sauce, classic deep-fried Moro bars and jam wrap donuts, and more.

A hangout for kids, teens and adults, everyone appreciates good fish and chips. Leave the city woes behind you, join the queue and be in for some piping hot crispy goodness from a friendly spot that knows exactly how to get you coming back for more.
