Level One is a classic Invercargill spot for after work drinks, dinner with friends, a special occasion and anything in between. The diverse food and drink menus make it easy to bring a crowd in as everyone can find something to suit their preferences.
Level One is tucked away above Kelvin Street and has been a bar for nearly 55 years. The low light provides an easy going, intimate feel while a variety of bar seating, leaners, couches and armchairs offer plenty of space for guests to make themselves right at home. It’s the kind of place where patrons feel comfortable enough to move the furniture around a bit in order to get the setting just right for their party.
If you’re a craft beer fan, you’ve come to the right place. Level One has one of the most robust craft beer lists in Invercargill and are always bringing in new pours. Take a look at the craft beer board that breaks things down sans hipster beer lingo, and spells out type, flavours and percentage in layman's terms. In addition to the wide range of beers you can also find a variety of sparkly bubbles, 14 gins and plenty of boutique tonics.
Cocktails like the Morning Glory Fizz feature Chivas 12 with a bit of lemon and lime juice for a sour yet sweet combination. There are also plenty of tasty options, like classic Fentimans soda, for anyone who doesn’t drink.
If you’re hungry give Level One’s menu a peek. They are famous for their steaks - like the 300g ribeye with bacon and beer cheese, steak fries and crispy battered onion rings. Others mains include Southland-sourced blue cod, salmon and venison. The tapas and sharing plates are equally delicious and the platter is perfect for big groups. The hospitality, food and drink here all highlight the best of the region, don’t miss it.
