Don’t be surprised if walking into Iko Iko starts you shakin’ at the knees. That’ll be because the colour and vibrancy of this little hustling bustling shop can make you feel like you’ve got too much to look at and too little time. Luckily they don’t mind how long you stay, and when there are as many epic gifts, homewares, books, and oddities as there are at Iko Iko, that’s likely to be a while. Big bold earrings, lovely New Zealand made goodies, cute quirky ceramics and beautiful books to make your heart quiver, this is the place to come if you’re ever feeling low on inspiration or simply need a new pair of pug socks to brighten your day. A go-to spot for last-minute gift buying, there’s nothing like a trip to Iko Iko to guarantee a very happy present recipient (they will also gift wrap your pressie for free!).
World famous in Wellington for their kick ass posters and best display of greeting cards in town, you can move right along if you think you’re getting drab old flowery cards here, and instead you’re likely to find Rhianna, Beyonce or Frida Kahlo gracing the cover of these.
Not afraid to fill every available space, Iko Iko is the polar opposite of anything minimalistic, and instead adds a hit of vibrancy to Cuba Street with their bright blue door (flanked by two very welcoming hot pink flamingos) and the carnival-type atmosphere inside.
