Dot & Winnies is a cosy, owner-operated café in the heart of Hamilton, known for its warm atmosphere and delicious, homemade fare. Named after the owners’ grandmothers, both of whom were passionate about baking, the café lovingly carries on their legacy with recipes passed down through generations. Some of the standout treats here are the Gooey Caramel slices and Grandma Dot’s famous yo-yos—delicate, buttery biscuits sandwiched with a creamy filling, made just the way she used to. Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or a leisurely catch-up, Dot & Winnies' nostalgic charm and mouthwatering food will make you feel right at home.

The counter is laden with freshly baked pastries and sandwiches, and the shelves behind are stacked with loaves still warm from the oven. There are many sweet treats that are bound to tempt, but two fan favourites are the award-winning custard square, and the perfectly flaky almond croissant. The custard square is topped with perfectly sweet icing, and the almond croissant cleverly balances buttery pastry with a sweet almond filling. Rounded out with a cup of freshly brewed Ozone coffee, it’s no wonder Volare has become a favourite amongst locals.
