Paul and Laura Finney began their brewing journey with a home brewing shop in Christchurch before starting Kaikōura's Emporium Brewing.

Emporium Brewing opened its doors in 2016, just weeks before the earthquake. A lot of clean up and hard work later, the brewery and taproom has emerged into an award-winning enterprise much loved by the locals.

There are around 11 different beers on the go at any one time at Emporium, consisting of a mix of small batches of seasonal beers and a staple seven or eight that you can expect to grab at any old time. The most popular Emporium Brewing beer by far, is the ‘Run for the Hills’ IPA so we highly recommend grabbing a pint and settling in to one of their colourful chairs in the bar.

Paul is the self-taught master brewer at Emporium and has been brewing for about ten years. He’s always got a hazy (that's a type of beer) of some kind on the go, and enjoys experimenting with small releases such as the Watermelon Belgian Blonde or Apple strudel Stout.

On top of brewing and beer tasting, Emporium Brewery also has a selection of  gourmet burgers to sample. Simply find a comfy perch inside or out, settle in, and tuck into your kai with a delicious drop. The brewery also houses two Escape Rooms created by Paul and Laura themselves, plus an eighteen-hole mini golf course with mighty views of the Kaikōura ranges and farmland.

Pint and a putt? Don't mind if we do.
